seta Project

The project is currently in its environmental licensing phase and entails 570 km of pipelines, four collection centers located in the region of Serrana (SP), Botucatu (SP), Anhembi (SP) and Santa Bárbara d’Oeste (SP), two distribution terminals for the internal market – in Paulínia (SP) and in Caieiras, in the São Paulo Metropolitan Area – and an export terminal in Santos region (SP), where Uniduto will operate its own off-shore port.

Collection centers will be strategically positioned, allowing for their integration with other modalities. The Botucatu terminal will enable integration with highway and rail transport, thus connecting up with the ethanol production in the northern part of the State of Paraná; the Anhembi terminal also has a port, which facilitates its interaction with the highway and waterway transport on the Tietê-Paraná Waterway: its 1,200 km of navigable waters will help in shipping the ethanol production of part of Mato Grosso and Mato Grosso do Sul; the Serrana base will help ship part of the ethanol produced in Goiás and in the Triângulo Mineiro (MG), in addition to the large production of this part of the State of São Paulo, through its integration with highways and railways. The base that will be established in Santa Bárbara d’Oeste region will serve to concentrate activities, collecting fuel shipped by highway.

The ethanol that is to be exported through the port of Santos region will arrive through pipelines, thus avoiding the use of trucks on the way down the Serra do Mar. Ships will be supplied by a single mooring buoy system, a very efficient solution for handling large volumes of liquids. Coastal navigation along the Brazilian coastline will help transport ethanol to other parts of Brazil, such as the Northeast and the South.

Environmental licensing is currently under way, in compliance with Brazilian law, so as to minimize environmental impacts and provide for environmental and social compensation. Environmental licensing, as well as all other types of licensing, is planned for the first half of 2011. Pipeline construction will begin once such licenses have been obtained. The project is scheduled to become operational in 2013.
